Price starts with vehicle class — a sedan runs a lower hourly minimum than an SUV — and that minimum covers positioning the car and the chauffeur for the job, not just the minutes you're actually riding. Airport pickups fold a wait-time window into the fare, timed differently for a domestic gate walk than an international arrival that has to clear customs first; time past that window bills as extra wait.
Gratuity works one of two ways depending on the operator — built into the quote as a standard convention, or left to the rider's discretion at the end of the trip — so it's worth asking which applies before you book. A South Bay run adds its own line item: SR-125, the South Bay Expressway, is a variable-rate toll road, cheaper against a transponder than paying by plate afterward, and a venue or hotel drop-off can add its own parking or valet fee on top of that.
None of that moves the way the calendar does. A quote requested for Comic-Con week, a Del Mar race weekend, or a Convention Center trade show is a different conversation than the same trip on an ordinary Tuesday — vehicles get scarce before rates do.
