The Trolley Square/Town Center lot is a working retail parking lot with a transit station inside it, not a dedicated pickup zone — we hold in an agreed section rather than the fire lane out front. Carlton Oaks and the Lakes entrance both have more room to work with, so those pickups tend to run smoother than a Town Center night.

Getting Around Santee
Santee's venues aren't clustered — Carlton Oaks sits off Mission Gorge Road on one side of town, the Lakes preserve sits on the other, and Town Center's shopping and transit hub is its own stop in between. A night that touches more than one of these means real drive time, not a walk between doors.
SR-52 and SR-125 meet here and form the arterial funnel for through traffic — SR-52 running toward the coast and I-5, SR-125 tolled south toward I-8 and beyond — so Santee is genuinely a junction town, and timing a pickup around that junction matters more than it does somewhere with one main road.

Airport Runs from Santee
At about 25 minutes via SR-52, Santee is one of the shorter SAN runs in this part of the county, which makes it workable even for a same-evening pickup after a flight. Any operator picking up at SAN — us included — has to hold a permit from the airport's own Ground Transportation office on top of what the state requires, and an unpermitted vehicle gets turned away rather than just fined. How Pricing Works
Santee runs about 20 to 25 minutes from downtown San Diego and SAN, closer to the coast than most of East County — close enough that a one-way transfer can make sense for a simple point-to-point, but a group moving between two or three Santee venues in one evening is still better served by an hourly block that keeps the vehicle with you the whole time rather than dropping you and leaving.
SR-125, the tolled South Bay Expressway, factors into any run south toward the border, with the toll itself set on a variable-rate schedule rather than a flat charge. Friday and Saturday nights, and festival weekends, carry a higher minimum booking length and fill first.

Can we combine a stop at Santee Lakes with a night out elsewhere?
Yes — this is a common booking around the July 4th parade and Santee Salutes. The Lakes sit on one side of town and most restaurants and venues sit on the other, so bridging that gap in one vehicle beats asking everyone to drive separately and meet up later. We hold at the Lakes entrance on Fanita Pkwy for the first stop, then move the group on to wherever the rest of the night happens.
What's the drive from Santee to downtown San Diego?
